The circular dichroism (CD) spectra and the rotatory dispersion of Bi2
5FeO39 crystals grown from a bismuth oxide flux were investigated. The
electronic transitions involving d-electrons of the Fe atom in the [F
eO4](5-) complex were found to give rise to CD bands of both signs and
to provide a negative contribution to the rotatory dispersion of Bi25
FeO39 crystals.
