This paper presents an overview of Spanish Educational Psychology. Fir
stly we will give a brief historical summary, outlining its antecedent
s, birth and the crisis it went through in the middle of this century.
Secondly, we will analyse its process of definitive consolidation in
scientific-academic and socio-professional fields. To conclude, a brie
f description of the main perspectives and most recent areas of resear
ch and intervention is given. Throughout this work we have tried to hi
ghlight not only the parallels but also the differences in Spanish EP
with respect to other countries.
