Electrophoretic techniques are the main methods for the experimental i
nvestigation of the zetapotential of dispersions and emulsions. The ob
jective of the paper is to describe some aspects of the theoretical fo
undations. The calculation of the electrophoretic mobility and the zet
apotential based on velocity measurements of particles in an electric
field is discussed In the second part the interest is addressed to som
e methodical aspects of the mainly used experimental microelectrophore
tic techniques.
