Abstract
In this study, the first objective was to identify the personality pro files of 4,483 participants in an early teaching experience program wh o eventually either continued or discontinued their preparation to bec ome teachers, The second objective was to identify the personality typ es of 886 students who completed their preparation to teach as a funct ion of their area of certification (elementary, secondary, etc.), Meas ures on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), augmented in the first analysis by a dichotomous continue/discontinue variable, and in the s econd analysis by four areas of certification, were subjected to confi gural frequency analyses (CFA) for the purpose of identifying discerni ble personality types and antitypes, Results indicated that the S-F-J profile on the MBTI described a significant number of students who con tinued in education, Also identified were several types and antitypes linked to areas of teacher certification, Implications for education i n this decade of reform are discussed.
