Mk. Gupta et al., THIN-FILM DEPOSITION OF YTTRIUM AND DYSPROSIUM ON YTTRIA-STABILIZED ZIRCONIA AND STRONTIUM-TITANATE SUBSTRATES WITH BUFFER LAYERS, Journal of crystal growth, 156(1-2), 1995, pp. 74-78
The deposition of yttrium and dysprosium on yttria-stabilized zirconia
and strontium titanate single crystal [100] substrates with buffer la
yers of Cu, Y2O3, and BaOx has been investigated. The ESCA and XRD mea
surements carried out on films grown at substrate temperatures between
200 and 550 degrees C show that all the buffer layers studied permit
the oxygen uptake by Y and Dy from the substrates thus forming Y2O3 an
d Dy2O3. This is an important result from the point of view of the pre
paration of thin films of high temperature superconductors and related
multilayer structures under controlled conditions.
