P. Potts, WHATS THE USE OF HISTORY - UNDERSTANDING EDUCATIONAL PROVISION FOR DISABLED STUDENTS AND THOSE WHO EXPERIENCE DIFFICULTIES IN LEARNING, British journal of educational studies, 43(4), 1995, pp. 398-411
This paper argues that debating the relative possibility and desirabil
ity of past reconstruction and present interpretation cannot furnish a
n adequate response to questions about the character and value of hist
ory. It is also necessary to debate whether or not to acknowledge, and
therefore engage with, the social and political consequences of histo
rical enquiry, which includes taking responsibility for a relationship
with its audience.
