These guidelines have been developed by implant centre teachers of the
deaf in consultation with the British Association of Teachers of the
Deaf the National Deaf Children's Society, the British Cochlear Implan
t Group, and the Department of Education. The aim is to promote consis
tency of practice throughout the United Kingdom. They were drawn up be
aring in mind that other professionals, such as Speech and Language Th
erapists, will be working with implanted children.
