Hf. Tsui, GENERAL AND RESOURCE CLASS TEACHERS FEELINGS OF PERSONAL EFFICACY ANDATTITUDE TOWARDS CLASSROOM COLLABORATION, School psychology international, 16(4), 1995, pp. 365-377
The feelings of personal efficacy and attitude towards the newly advoc
ated collaborative/supportive roles of resource personnel were investi
gated in a sample of general and resource teachers by means of a quest
ionnaire. The variable of type of teacher was found to have significan
t effect on the perception of personal efficacy. Interaction effects b
etween teacher type and special training were also found on feelings o
f personal efficacy and the total questionnaire score. Supplementary c
orrelation results showed a slightly negative orientation of resource
teachers towards the new supportive role functions. The new questionna
ire items on efficacy of the present study were found to have high int
ernal validity, but the ecological validity of the items on supportive
roles would need further research. Suggestions for future research in
to other fundamental factors affecting collaboration are given.
