Abstract
The 92/5/EU-directive (Miscellaneous directive), published in the EU-g azette on March 18, 1995, and enacted on March 25, 1995, is the third and last of the partial guidelines to define the 89/107/EU directive o n additives, commonly called the global directive. It regulates the us e of additives apart from sweeteners and colourings. For these additio nal substances individual directives have been passed. The deadlines f or its implementation are regulated by Article 9 of the Miscellaneous directive. By September 9, 1996, at the latest, the trade and use of p roducts which are subject to this directive, will have to be permitted . The second deadline will end on March 3, 1997. From then on, all pro ducts will have to be in accordance with this directive. Goods produce d before this date, however, can be sold off. The implementation of th e Miscellaneous directive into German law to be carried out by Septemb er 25, 1996, will imply a series of changes in the national rule on ad ditives presently in force. In particular, it will offer the chance to combine regulations on additives that so far have been fragmented int o various product decrees into a single unified decree on the admissio n of additives. In addition, a number of changes in the LMBG wil becom e necessary, too.
