This article discusses the dynamic assessment of information processin
g ability, by detailing the development, standardization, and prelimin
ary validation of the Cognitive Processing Test (S-CPT). Intended for
use for age 5 to adult, the S-CPT was constructed to include measures
of processing ability under static and testing-the-limit conditions. T
he S-CPT is an individually administered instrument standardized on a
large group (N = 1,600) of students across the U.S. and Canada Informa
tion pertaining to the development and standardization of the instrume
nt and the evaluation of the psychometric properties is presented. The
problems and advantages of the measures are discussed.
