Abstract
Due to increasing internationalization, the motivation of employees re garding missions abroad is gaining importance. In the framework of a l ongitudinal study with 801 employees with management potential, motiva tion regarding missions abroad was assessed. Within a time frame of tw o years, 13% of this group have the clear goal of being transferred ab road. Their intensive foreign country experience previous to entering professional life and their active search for information regarding po ssibilities for missions abroad during their job interview demonstrate potential for motivation. Organizations should take advantage of this potential, recognize it and further encourage it.
