Abstract
This paper describes a photothermal method for process monitoring. The development of a small sensor head and the proper choice of the light source, depending on the spectroscopic problem, are the keys to a cos t effective trace measurement system in gaseous or liquid samples. Dif ferent sources and methods are compared using the textile dye 'reactiv e red' in an aqueous solution as an example.
