Abstract
The origins of Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPS) in the chemical industry are well known. This paper describes the principles of Hazar d and Operability Studies, illustrates how they have been applied over a wide range of industries and activities, and outlines the most impo rtant points in carrying-out the studies.
