Abstract
The system 2,4-pentanediol/water is studied using differential scannin g calorimetry and cryomicroscopy. The phase diagram at low temperature s is presented. Ice crystal growth rates are calculated from direct cr yomicroscopic observations. These rates are found to be proportional t o the ratio of the supercooling to the viscosity of the solution.
