Abstract
Light scattering from an optical fiber with an elliptical core. Scatte ring of light from an elliptical core (e-core) fiber was theoretically analyzed and measured. The fiber parameters were recovered from the m easured scattering patterns. The fiber size (axes of the ellipse) can be determined to the order of a quarter of a wavelength, and the refra ctive index of fibers can be recovered with an uncertainty to the thir d decimal place.
