H. Itzhaky, EFFECTS OF ORGANIZATIONAL AND ROLE COMPONENTS ON JOB-SATISFACTION - ASTUDY OF NONPROFESSIONAL WOMEN WORKERS, Administration in social work, 19(3), 1995, pp. 1
The author examines job satisfaction among nonprofessional women worke
rs in welfare service organizations. Nonprofessional women workers are
in a special position in this regard on two counts: first, they are r
esidents of the neighborhoods in which they work; and, second, they ge
nerally have had no previous work experience. In this study, variables
identified in earlier research in the field are used in order to dete
rmine the effects of background characteristics, organizational factor
s, and role components on job satisfaction. The results of the present
study support the view that role conflict and role ambiguity exert a
negative impact on job satisfaction. Organizational variables make up
one area where the findings of this study differ from those of previou
s research in the field. The implications of these findings are discus
sed.
