Abstract
A multi-task image processing system for halved kernels was developed. The system replaces visual inspection, human evaluation and reporting for pregermination test, determination of water infiltration and dist ribution in the endosperm of barley seeds, and determination of malt m odification and homogeneity by the Calcofluor method. Image processing of halved barley and malt kernels was applied to the control of malti ng and malt quality.
