MODEL EXPERIMENTS TO DETECTION OF ABSCESS ES WITH ULTRA SONOGRAPHY INCARCASSES OF PIGS

In primary abscessfree muscular tissue the detection of model abscesse s was tested with ultrasonography. With water, agar or plaster filled rubber balls simulated abscesses with different dimensions and consist encies. With Linearscanners (5.0 and 7.5 MHz) the detection of models, which a minimum of 0,5 cm in diameter and a maximum of 7 cm in depth, was succeeded. Here the shadow and intensification of sound behind th e abscess appears to be important for the good description of model ab scesses. The ultrasonographical inspection with portable apparatuses c ould be a method of detecting of hidden defects in the meat.
