Sm. Carraher et Mr. Buckley, COGNITIVE-COMPLEXITY AND THE PERCEIVED DIMENSIONALITY OF PAY SATISFACTION, Journal of applied psychology, 81(1), 1996, pp. 102-109
This study explored the possibility that cognitive complexity can acco
unt for differences in the number of perceived dimensions with which i
ndividuals conceptualize pay satisfaction, as measured by the Pay Sati
sfaction Questionnaire. Using 2 independent samples of 1,969 certified
teachers, it was found that mean group differences in cognitive compl
exity may account for the differences previously found in the literatu
re. It was suggested that additional basic research be performed on ho
w individuals conceptualize pay satisfaction and that more useful meas
ures of cognitive complexity be developed.
