M. Rapley et J. Lobley, FACTOR-ANALYSIS OF THE SCHALOCK AND KEITH (1993) QUALITY-OF-LIFE QUESTIONNAIRE - A REPLICATION, Mental handicap research, 8(3), 1995, pp. 194-202
The Quality of Life of people with learning disabilities has become a
topic of much concern to academics, policy makers, human service provi
ders and evaluators. As yet there has been little progress towards the
goal of developing an instrument which adequately reflects the subjec
tive QOL perceptions of people with learning disabilities. To assist i
n the development of a psychometrically sound and internationally acce
ptable QOL measure, factor analyses of the Schalock & Keith (1993) Qua
lity of Life Questionnaire (QOL.Q) were undertaken with a British samp
le. Discrepancies between the factor solution reported in the QOL.Q St
andardisation Manual (Schalock, Keith & Hoffman, 1990) and that obtain
ed for the UK sample are reported. It is concluded that the QOL.Q show
s broad cross-cultural comparability.
