Correction for preferred orientation of crystallites using simple empi
rical functions has been extended for structure analysis of strongly t
extured materials by the method called joint texture refinement. The m
ethod is based on simultaneous fitting of calculated intensities to th
e whole set of intensities measured at several sample inclinations. Th
in films of zinc and a powder sample of brucite have been used as test
ing materials with a modified version of the program POWLS.
