J. Gerber et Ej. Fritsch, ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WHITE-COLLAR CRIME AND POLITICAL-SOCIOLOGY - A SUGGESTION AND RESOURCE FOR TEACHING, Teaching sociology, 21(2), 1993, pp. 130-139
A recurring problem in teaching certain classes on social inequality i
nvolves the lack of readily available data. For instance, although dat
a on street crime are widely available, little information is collecte
d nationally on while-collar crime. Instructors therefore must often c
ollect their own data. In this paper we provide some information on co
rporate crime by relying on commonly available sources. In addition, w
e suggest ways in which professors can involve their students in findi
ng additional documentation. In the process, instructors can teach ele
mentary research skills.
