This article examines client satisfaction with outpatient psychotherap
y in New Zealand. The 93 subjects who completed the eight-item Client
Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ-8) reported high levels of satisfactio
n with treatment. There were positive correlations between satisfactio
n and symptom change on both therapist- and client-rated outcome measu
res. No differences were found in levels of satisfaction among clients
receiving different modalities of treatment in addition to psychother
apy. It is suggested that future research explore satisfaction with di
fferent components of psychotherapy as one way of improving service de
livery and effectiveness.
