The central research question examined in this study focused on whethe
r diverse groups react differently to politics in the workplace as a f
unction of understanding Understanding moderated the relationships bet
ween dimensions of politics perceptions and employee reactions for whi
te males but not for racial/ethnic minorities, as hypothesized. The re
sults for white females were mixed with significant moderating effects
of understanding found for the Coworker Political Behavior-Outcomes r
elationships, and for the Political Organization Policies and Practice
s-Outcomes relationship. Implications of these results for theory and
research are discussed.
