Crystal structures and dielectric properties of lead zinc titanium nio
bate pyrochlores and bismuth zinc nickel niobate compositions were inv
estigated as a function of composition and sintering temperature. Thes
e dielectrics have dielectric constants between 70 and 165 and their t
emperature coefficients are within +/-500 x 10(-6)degrees C-1. Some co
mpositions have been identified to have a dielectric constant of 90 an
d a temperature coefficient of 0 ppm degrees C-1. These compositions h
ave a low sintering temperature (900-1000 degrees C) suitable for co-f
iring with high Ag internal electrodes. Multilayer capacitors have bee
n fabricated from some of these compositions, and their device propert
ies match those measured in disk samples. Accelerated life tests were
performed to show that these multilayer capacitors have a reasonably g
ood reliability.
