A modified vapour phase free growth method for obtaining homogeneous s
ingle crystals of solid solutions of II-VI compounds having essentiall
y different saturated vapour pressures is described. Single crystals o
f ZnCdSe, ZnCdS, ZnCdSSe, ZnSTe, ZnSeTe, CdSTe of 40-55 mm in diameter
have been grown by this technology. Thermodynamic analysis of the gro
wth process of the ZnSe-CdSe system has been carried out and its resul
ts are in a good agreement with experiment.
