We report on degenerate-four-wave-mixing experiments mainly based on b
iexcitonic processes near the bandgap of CdS and ZnSe. Broadband femto
second-excitation is applied in order to coherently create free and bo
und excitons as well as free and bound biexcitons in the sample. Using
the results of nonlinear quantum beat spectroscopy the binding energi
es of the free and acceptor bound biexciton in CdS and ZnSe are determ
ined.
