We investigate the quasi-stationary and dynamical properties of a dens
e population of excitons in the localized states of the alloy compound
s CdS1-xSex and Zn1-yCdyS. The shorter decay times and lower laser thr
esholds in the second system give some indication that localization is
less pronounced. For the stimulated emission we discuss the recombina
tion from localized excitons and biexciton states and the formation of
an electron-hole plasma.
