R. Meyer et al., MAGNETOOPTICAL STUDY OF THE EXCHANGE INTERACTION IN (CD,MN)TE UNDER HIGH HYDROSTATIC-PRESSURE, Journal of crystal growth, 159(1-4), 1996, pp. 997-1000
We report on magneto-optical studies of a CdTe/Cd0.91Mn0.09Te single-q
uantum-well (SQW) structure with different quantum-well (QW) widths un
der high hydrostatic pressure at low temperatures. From the Zeeman spl
itting of the barrier and QW states as a function of pressure we deriv
e the pressure dependence of the antiferromagnetic (AF) exchange const
ant N-0 beta and of the phenomenological constant T-0 (AF temperature)
. The observations can be understood in terms of the distance dependen
ce of the hopping matrix element V-pd between the 3d(5)-levels of the
Mn2+ ions and the valence-band (VB) p-orbitals.
