The diffusivity of mercury vacancies (D-v) in Hg0.8Cd0.2Te is derived
using both the component of the mercury tracer diffusion coefficient d
epending on the mercury partial pressure and thermodynamic data of equ
ilibrium mercury vacancy concentrations throughout the region of exist
ence of Hg0.8Cd0.2Te. It becomes: D-v = 2 x 10(-3) exp(-0.44 eV/kT). T
he derivation has been confirmed experimentally.
