Tc. Johnson et al., DEMONSTRATING THE EXPERIMENTING SOCIETY MODEL WITH CLASSWIDE BEHAVIORMANAGEMENT INTERVENTIONS, School psychology review, 25(2), 1996, pp. 199-214
This research demonstrates the experimenting society model using data-
based decision making and collaborative consultation to generate and e
valuate three classwide behavior management intervention strategies. T
he work sought to increase rates of desired behaviors and decrease rat
es of undesired behaviors in a 25-member seventh grade class. Three di
fferent interventions were implemented concurrently in three different
classrooms. Using concurrent A-B time-series research designs, and sy
stematic classroom observation, each intervention was compared with ba
seline conditions, and outcome data across classrooms were compared. A
lthough each intervention resulted in improved behavior, active teachi
ng of the classroom rules was determined to be the most effective inte
rvention. It was replicated in three other classrooms with positive re
sults.
