Abstract
In order to reduce the dependence of the viscosity on the density indi cation of oscillating tube densimeters, which in the case of the bendi ng-type measuring systems so far used is caused by a partially rotary movement of the fluid, an oscillating system in which most of the flui d performs linear oscillations is proposed. If the volume of the measu ring vessel is, for example, fifty times larger than the volume of the lead-in tubes (performing bending oscillations) the viscosity depende nce of up to 0.8 kg/m(3) for bending-type oscillation systems should b e reducible by at least a factor of ten.
