Abstract
Resonant inelastic light-scattering techniques have been used to measu re directly the single-particle tunneling gap (Delta(SAS)) in AlxGa1-x As/GaAs double quantum wells. We have observed a systematic decrease i n Delta(SAS) with increasing height of the barrier in agreement with t he Delta(SAS) calculated self-consistently within a Hartree approximat ion.
