Abstract
A model of the ''slow'' oxidation stage of YBCO ceramics is proposed, according to which the oxidation kinetics at this stage is governed by the rate of elastic-stress relaxation due to migration of twin bounda ries. Model predictions regarding the onset of the slow stage and oxid ation rate agree with experimental data.
