Abstract
We present a simple intuitive model of a Photon Scanning Tunneling Mic roscope (PSTM) using the image-dipole method of classical electrodynam ics. In particular, the polarization dependences of the nanometric PST M images can be qualitatively understood and agree well with recent ex perimental results.
