Abstract
Phase relationships in the HfO2-Y2O3-La2O3 ternary system were studied at 1250 degrees C over the entire range of compositions. We identifie d 19 phase fields. The system contains solid solutions based on the co nstituent oxides (C-Y2O3, A-La2O3, M-HfO2, F-HfO2) and the intermediat e compounds (La2Hf2O7 LaYO3). La2Hf2O7 is involved in equilibria with all of the phases. At 1250 degrees C, the joins La2Hf2O7-Y2O3 and La2H f2O7-LaYO3 are pseudobinary.
