A. Fimia et al., POLARIZATION INFLUENCE ON THE EFFICIENCY, THE SIGNAL AND THE NOISE OFBLEACHED SILVER-HALIDE DIFFUSE-OBJECT HOLOGRAMS, Optik, 103(1), 1996, pp. 19-26
Polarization influence on the efficiency, the signal and the noise of
bleached silver halide diffuse-object holograms. The efficiency and th
e noise of diffuse-object holograms recorded as volume holograms in bl
eached silver halide emulsion ale experimentally analyzed as a functio
n of the polarization state of the readout wave. An important source o
f noise found in these holograms when they are processed with rehaloge
nating bleaches are noise gratings which are very sensitive-polarizati
on. The dependence of signal-to-noise ratio on the relative polarizati
on between the construction and reconstruction beam is shown too. Expe
rimental results are presented which make it possible to choose the be
st reconstruction conditions for these holograms.
