Abstract
The Reiss Screen for Maladaptive Behavior was factor analyzed in two i nstitutional samples and one community sample of persons with mental r etardation. In Sample 1 a general factor was found In Samples 2 and 3 a three-factor structure was found. These three factors were named Int ra-personal Maladaptive Behavior; Psychotic Behavior; and Extra-person al Maladaptive Behavior None of the factor solutions bore any close re semblance to a factor structure implied by the seven scales on the Rei ss Screen The implications for the future development of assessments o f dual diagnosis are discussed.
