S. Sonnentag, WORKING-CONDITIONS AND WELL-BEING IN WOME N AND MEN - A METAANALYTIC STUDY, Zeitschrift fur Arbeits- und Organisationspsychologie, 40(3), 1996, pp. 118-126
Three theoretical models (job model, gender model, life-situational mo
del) about the relationship between work characteristics (stressors, c
ontrol at work, and regulation requirements) and well-being in women a
nd men are discussed. Results of a meta-analysis based on 41 studies a
re presented (N = 14019). Analyses revealed substantial relationships
between work characteristics and well-being. Nearly no differences bet
ween women and men were found. Only the relationship between control a
t work and job satisfaction was stronger for men than it was for women
.
