Abstract
Modern workplaces are permanently affected by implementations of infor mation technologies. The management of the implementation has an impor tant moderating function between implementation characteristics and de mands on one hand and outcomes for the company and the employees on th e other hand. In this experimental report the development and a first empirical application of an interview guideline for the description of ,,implementation styles'' is presented. The interview guideline was d eveloped in several stages. The final version consists of 139 question s on implementation characteristics, implementation management and out comes. The duration of the interviews is 60-90 minutes. In a first app lication interviews with 59 managers who were responsible for an imple mentation project were realized. The analysis shows, that the greater part of the implementations investigated is characterized by increases in qualification demands, changes in work structure and increases in working time. implementation management is characterized by a trend co wards implementation projects performed within the organizational hier archy of the companies (EDP-departments). At this stage of development the interview guideline can be used in research. Important contextual factors of the use of information technologies are measured objective ly and can be investigated in the context of possible effects of the i mplementation. A later use of the instrument in organizational counsel ling, based on interpretation guidelines, could be possible.
