Abstract
Breakdown voltage is an important parameter of the surface glow discha rge especially from the standpoint of practical applications. The expe rimental results of the breakdown voltage measurements for this type o f discharge together with the results obtained from theoretical analys is are given. Presented model is based on the calculation of the elect ric held, trajectories of charged particles (which do not follow the f lux lines) and finally on the testing of the condition for the self su stained discharge. The obtained theoretical results are in good agreem ent with the experimental ones.
