Abstract
Total Systems Intervention (TSI) as a form of Critical Systems Thinkin g has been subject to criticism concerning the actual application of i ts emancipatory commitment. The emancipatory potentials of TSI or othe r systems-oriented change efforts may possibly be improved through the ir linkage to employee ethical skill development. Acknowledging a ''st rategic twist'' in consulting efforts to encourage greater emancipator y practice and a more communicative ethic, an agenda for consultants i s suggested to provide incremental emancipatory potentials for organiz ations with many apparently coercive characteristics.
