Abstract
The aim of this paper is to give a survey of the phenomena underlying the determination of zeta potential from streaming potential and strea ming current measurements. Principles of the streaming potential and s treaming current experiments are explained by the example of the elect rokinetic analyzer EKA. Furthermore, the transition from the single ca pillary system to a diaphragm and the possibility to consider the surf ace conductivity are discussed.
