Ca. Tomlinson et al., INTERFACE BETWEEN GIFTED EDUCATION AND GENERAL-EDUCATION - TOWARD COMMUNICATION, COOPERATION AND COLLABORATION, The Gifted child quarterly, 40(3), 1996, pp. 165-171
Gifted education has often seemed isolation from general education, in
part because of differing perspectives on equity and excellence goals
and tensions resulting from those divergent viewpoints. Recently, how
ever, there have been calls from both educators of the gifted and gene
ral educators for an increased interface between the two fields. This
article reports findings and suggestions from a study conducted by a t
ask force commissioned by the National Association of Gifted Children
to determine attitudes of educators of the gifted and general educator
s regarding linkage between the practices, and to provide guidance fro
m practitioners in both fields on increasing communication, cooperatio
n and collaboration between the fields.
