Abstract
PDA and SAED methods were used to characterize inclusions in LiB3O5 si ngle crystals, obtained by the TSSG method. In the macroinclusions wer e registered LiB3O5, Li2B4O7, Li2B8O13, B2O3 and amorphous phases. To explain the presence of Li2B4O7 and Li2B8O13, in them we suggested LiB 3O5 decomposition at cooling the crystal from growth temperature to ro om temperature. The unit cell parameters are a=13.849 Angstrom, b=14.0 97 Angstrom, c=11.914 Angstrom, beta=122.141 degrees and the possible space group P2(1)/m of Li2B8O13 (Li2O. 4B(2)O(3)) was determined for t he first time. Phase decomposition of LiB3O5 to Li2B4O7 and Li2B8O13 w as observed at mechanical grinding of the crystals at room temperature .
