This article describes the achievements, from Brs perspective, of the
EURESCOM (European Institute for Research and Strategic Studies in Tel
ecommunications) Project 306 - 'Access Networks Evolution and Preparat
ion for Implementation:, which investigated fibre in the loop in non-g
reen-field situations. The need for collaboration is explained and hou
r the project has worked towards achieving common agreement on a broad
range of access network issues. The implications of this work on furt
her collaboration are explored.
