Lithium vanadium oxide bronzes (LVOBs) of various compositions were sy
nthesized and used for fabrication of electrodes. The effects of Li+ a
nd other alkali-metal and alkaline-earth-metal ions on the electrode p
otential of LVOBs were studied. Selectivity coefficients of LixV2O5 el
ectrodes were determined with respect to Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+, an
d Ba2+ ions. The electrodes were tested to determine Li+ ions in alkal
ine battery electrolytes.
