Company related work inability analysis, carried out by the compulsory
sickness insurance funds, can develop a considerable communicative di
mension. Such statistics serve to deliver a quantitative framework of
work inability i.e. apportionment of work inability as to duration, ag
e, sex, diagnosis groups and cost allocation fur a company. These stat
istics can be monetised and transferred into appropriate intervention
measures as part of company policy. Within the cooperative framework w
ith the compulsory sickness funds, the Institute for Occupational Safe
ty and Health, has gathered experience on how companies can deal with
sickness rates and on how sickness rates be successfully reduced by se
lective workplace health promotion activities.
