Abstract
CIFtbx2 is a new version of a Fortran subroutine library for programme rs developing CIF applications. The functions for reading and writing CIF data in CIFtbx [Hall (1993). J. Appl. Cryst. 26, 482-494] have bee n expanded and facilities for handling macromolecular CIF data and dic tionaries have been added. The CIFtbx2 library facilitates application s involving all current versions of the dictionary definition language .
