Abstract
We describe a process of cadmium vacuum distillation in the presence o f a small quantity of its oxide. A thermodynamic model of the process which describes the phase composition in the evaporator and condenser during evaporation of cadmium was established. The model is used to se parate impurities into classes according to their behaviour in the pur ification process. Both the experimental equipment and results of the purification process of cadmium grade 99.9 by one-stage and two-stage distillation are discussed.
